Collaborative Focus

Discover Manufacturing is an employer led industry sector organization.  Michigan Works! serves as the backbone agency providing staff and management support. Discover Manufacturing specifically focuses on the talent needs of manufacturers in West Michigan's Prosperity Region 4. Discover Manufacturing is uniquely positioned to positively impact the talent needs of manufacturers, by organizing and aggregating the voice of manufacturers throughout the West Michigan labor shed, so workforce development, education, economic development and community partners can respond to both  short-term needs - with talent available, as well as long-term needs - by adding or adjusting training programs and curriculum to meet manufacturers' workforce needs.

Our work is guided by our common agenda and shared vision.  Our leadership team sets the vision and strategies.  We have three strategies that guide our work to bring our vision to reality: 

• Promoting Manufacturing
• Talent Development and Retention (Education and Training)
• Outreach (Regional Communication and Engagement)

The work of this employer collaboration falls under strategy two: Talent Development and Retention (Education and Training)

The focus (but not limited to) of this collaboration is to create a talent pipeline for

• Machine Operators,
• CNC Machinist, 
• Mechatronics Automation Technician and
• Tool & Die/Mold Maker.
